Creating a Syndeia Cloud Project.
The new learning objective of this exercise is to familiarize the user with creating a new Syndeia Cloud project from the Rhapsody Syndeia plug-in.
This exercise assumes the student has
- IBM Rational Rhapsody 8.2 installed correctly on his or her machine with a valid license for use, and
- Syndeia 3.2 installed as a plugin for Rhapsody with a valid license for use
- Syndeia Cloud installed on an accessible server (see Syndeia Cloud installation instructions) and user has a valid account. The user will need to contact the Syndeia Cloud administrator for their organization to get access credentials.
The specific instructions call for creating a new Project on Syndeia Cloud, so no additional interface beyond the Syndeia base module is required.Â
As of Syndeia 3.2, connections can be stored either in the SysML model or in a Syndeia Cloud project. The Database option is no longer available. If you need to transfer connections from an earlier version to Syndeia Cloud, contact Intercax for assistance (www.intercax.com/help).
Exercise
- Launch the SysML starter project Starter_Model_Alpha.rpy (or any other Rhapsody project which includes the Syndeia profile).
- Right-click any package in the SysML containment browser and select Syndeia → The window shown in Figure 1 will appear.
- Use the pull-down menu to set Select primary store to CLOUD (not SYSML_MODEL).
- Enter Protocol, Hostname, Port, Username and Password as provided by your Syndeia Cloud administrator.
- Click Apply (button in upper right corner)
- Close Syndeia Settings
- Right-click the top-level package Starter_Model_Alpha in the SysML model view browser and select Syndeia → The Select or Create Syndeia Project window shown in Figure 2 will appear. Under Create a new project:
- Enter a unique key up to 10 characters
- Enter a name and description for the new project
- Click the New button under the Description field
- Your new project should now appear in the list Select from existing projects at the top.
- Select your project and click OK.
- The Syndeia dashboard should appear. Proceed as normal to create, use or search inter-model connections.
If you close the Syndeia dashboard and re-open it in the same modeling session, Syndeia will go directly to the dashboard, assuming that you wish to continue with the same Syndeia project. If you close the Syndeia dashboard and the Rhapsody project, then re-open the Rhapsody project and launch the Syndeia dashboard, you will get the Select or Create Syndeia project window (similar to Figure 2). You can choose the same project as before or a different project, but the connections stored under the original project will not be transferred.
