Stage 12 - Assign Digital Thread Project Privileges to Users

Objective

The objective of this stage is to review all Digital Thread Projects (previously known as “Syndeia Projects”) and assign privileges to users on those projects.

If you’re upgrading from Syndeia Cloud 3.6, you can skip this stage or use it to review your existing Digital Thread Project permissions.

Approach

Digital Thread Project privileges are a new feature in Syndeia 3.6. After upgrading from Syndeia 3.5 SP2 to Syndeia 3.6, privileges will need to be assigned to users on those projects. Our recommendation to do this efficiently is as follows:

  • For each Digital Thread Project, the Syndeia Cloud superuser should assign all privileges to the lead user/admin for that project.

  • The lead user/admin for that project can then assign privileges to other users on that project. The superuser is not required for this step.

Prerequisites

(1) A newly migrated running instance of SC 3.6.

(2) A list of Digital Thread Projects and their corresponding lead user/admins.

Steps

(1) Sign in to the upgraded Syndeia Cloud 3.6 server as a superuser.

(2) Go to the Digital Thread Projects menu. Refer to Digital Thread Projects - Web Dashboard to learn more.

(3) You should see all the Digital Thread Projects, as shown in Figure 1 below.

(4) Select a specific Digital Thread Project and go to the Settings tab, as shown in Figure 2.

(5) Select ALL the privileges (as shown below) for the lead user/admin for that specific Digital Thread Project, as shown in Figure 3.

(6) Select the specific user who will be the lead/admin for that Digital Thread Project, as shown in Figure 4 below.

(7) Press the Apply button, as shown in Figure 4 below.

(8) Press the Save button in the bottom right, as shown in Figure 5 below.

(9) Repeat Steps 3-8 for any other Digital Thread Project you wish to assign privileges for.

 

Digital Thread Project Privileges and User Management

  • Approach A - Refer to Users for a Digital Thread Project to learn about assigning privileges to multiple users on a specific Digital Thread Project. If you have to assign privileges to many users on a few Digital Thread Projects, this is the most efficient approach.

  • Approach B - Refer to Digital Thread Projects for a User to learn about assigning privileges on multiple projects to a specific user. If you have to assign privileges to a few users on many Digital Thread Projects, this is the most efficient approach.

For the steps above, we followed Approach A to ensure that every Digital Thread Project was assigned to at least one lead user.

Verification

Lead users/admins for the Digital Thread Projects you identified in Prereqisites above should sign in to Syndeia Cloud Web Dashboard and verify that they can view their projects from the Digital Thread Projects menu.
