The Connection Manager - Creating a Connection Manually

  1. The objective of this exercise is to demonstrate how to create a connection between pre-existing model elements in the SysML and repository. Currently, only a Reference connection can be created in this way. This process differs from previous tutorials, where the connection was created automatically by dragging an element from one domain into the other.

  2. Create a SysML project including the Syndeia profile and at least one block (e.g. Alpha).

  3. Launch the Syndeia dashboard from Alpha and add a repository to the project. We will use a Local File System Repository, although this would also work with a PLM or database repository. From the Syndeia Dashboard, Repository Manager, right-click on Local File System Repositories and select Add… the figure on the left shows how to add a user-selected name and the root path.

  4. From the Connection Manager tab, the local file repository contents can be displayed, as shown in the figure (right). Create a reference connection by selecting the SysML element (Alpha) and the repository element (e.g. 00004174…jpeg), and the Connection Type (Reference) and click Create.

  5. Refresh the Connection Browser tab and expand the Alpha SysML element to see the connection created.
