Exercise 11.3 - Teamcenter to SysML

Objectives

The new learning objectives of this exercise are to generate a block structure in a MagicDraw SysML model from a product structure in Teamcenter.

Preparation

This exercise assumes the student has

  • Cameo System Modeler 18.0 - 19.0 (or MagicDraw with SysML plug-in) installed correctly on his or her machine with a valid license for use, and

  • Syndeia 3.4 installed as a plugin for Cameo/MagicDraw with a valid license for use

  • Syndeia Teamcenter interface, correctly installed with a valid license for user.

  • A Teamcenter repository network connection in the Syndeia Repository Manager

  • Completed Exercise 11.2 to create a modified UAV PLM part structure in Teamcenter

The user can use any Teamcenter repository network connection they have available. It is generally advisable to carry out these exercises in a non-production repository, a "sandbox", set up for training and practice purposes.

Exercise

  1. In this exercise, we will continue from the work created in Exercise 11.2.

  2. Create an empty package Teamcenter_Tutorial Part 2 in the SysML model. In the Connection Manager on the Syndeia dashboard, as shown in Figure 1, right-click the top element on the left side and use the Goto command to navigate to the new package. Set the Connection Type to Model Transform and drag the UAV (B.1) part from the repository side onto the empty SysML package on the left. Click Yes on the dialog box window to confirm.

  3. After the part generation is complete, the Syndeia dashboard Connection Manager should appear as in Figure 2. The new SysML part structure appears on the left side.

  4. After the part generation is complete, the Syndeia dashboard Connection Search tab should appear as in Figure 3 after the Get All button is clicked. Note the two sets of connections in the model at this stage, one set from the original SysML elements in the Teamcenter_Tutorial Part 1 package to the corresponding Teamcenter elements (created in Exercises 11.1 and 11.2) and one set from the new SysML elements in the Teamcenter_Tutorial Part 2 package (created in Exercise 11.3) to the same Teamcenter elements.
