Digital Thread Explorer (DTE)

The Digital Thread Explorer in the Syndeia Web Dashboard makes it possible for users to start with any aritfact in any repository and navigate intra- and inter-model relationships from/to that artifact.

Tutorials

The Syndeia Web Dashboard Tutorials available here https://intercax.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SYN35/pages/2922183427 include step-by-step exercises that showcase the Digital Thread Explorer for each repository (e.g., Aras Innovator, JIRA, Jama Connect). We highly recommend that you go through the exercises.

General Approach

A general approach for using the Digital Thread Explorer is presented below.

(1) Right click on any artifact in any repository, e.g. Unmanned Aerial Vehicle assembly in Aras Innovator shown below, and select Graph View.

(2) The Syndeia Web Dashboard will switch to the Graph View tab and display that artifact as a node. Right click on that artifact and select Expand.

(3) The Syndeia Web Dashboard will fetch both intra-model and inter-model relations from/to that artifact and display. In the example shown below, the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle assembly only has intra-model relations corresponding to the Model and Part BOM relationships in Aras Innovator. Right click on a related artifact and select Expand.

(4) Repeat this proces to explore intra- and inter-model relations similar to exploring “friends of friends” on a social network. For example, the Payload sub-assembly in Aras Innovator is connected to a JIRA task (SDB-2236). Expanding that JIRA task shows 3 other sub-tasks blocking it. Similarly, the Software Module managed in Aras Innovator is linked to Flight Software and Mission Software Modules in GitHub.

(5) If you right-click on any artifact and select More details, the Syndeia Web Dashboard will open that artifact in its native repository. As shown below, if you right-click on the JIRA issue SDB-2236 connected to the Payload sub-assembly in Aras Innovator, the Syndeia Web Dashboard will open the JIRA page for that issue (RHS).
