Viewing all connections – Circle Chord Diagram
The first type of visualization available in Syndeia is a Circle Chord Diagram that shows all the connections. This visualization can be launched by clicking on the “View All Connections” menu.
The visualization launches in the default web browser of your machine. The Circle Chord Diagram shows all the inter-model connections in the SysML project from which the visualization is launched. Inter-model connections are connections between different models, such as between SysML model elements and DOORS-NG requirements, Teamcenter items, JIRA issues, Windchill parts, or GitHub project commit. The boundary of the diagram shows the artifact nodes, such as SysML block or DOORS-NG requirement or Teamcenter item. The lines between the artifacts are the connections between the artifacts.
You can see analytics for the Total System Model graph. The Totals box shows the total number of connections (246 in this example), total number of connected artifacts (467 in this example), and the connection density as the ratio of total connections to total connected artifacts (0.52 in this case). The second box (Displayed) shows the same analytics for the displayed connections and connected artifacts. When you filter the graph, these numbers differ from the totals since only the displayed connections and artifacts are counted.
To pan the graph, left-click and move the mouse pointer. To zoom the graph, scroll the middle mouse wheel on Windows or use the two finger scroll on Mac. To fit the graph to screen, select the fit-to-screen icon on the top RHS of the page. You can also download the graph as a PNG image using the download button on the top RHS of the page.
You can filter the graph using three main criteria. First, you can select/unselect the specific repositories whose artifacts (and related connections) will be displayed. The MySQL and JIRA repositories are unselected in the figure shown below. The graph updates dynamically as you select/unselect. Second, you can filter by connection type. And third, you can filter by artifact type, such as see only DOORS-NG requirements but not collections or modules, or see only Teamcenter parts but not any other items.
If you hover the mouse pointer to an artifact—node on the boundary of the circle—or on a connection—edges between the nodes—a blue box comes up with details of that artifact or connection.
To search for a specific artifact in the graph, start typing in the Search bar and select from one of the auto-suggest options.
