Contents of a Windchill repository
If you select a Windchill repository in the Repository Tree Panel (LHS), you can see the contents of that repository in the Repository Content Panel (RHS). This content information is lazily loaded—every time you expand a node, a request is made to the Windchill server for information, and the results are displayed. Users can view a wide range of product information in Windchill.
The top-level container in a Windchill repository is a Product. Users can view all products in a repository. The content of each product can be viewed from three different perspectives—Part Structure view, Folders view, and Baseline view.
The Part Structure view shows the latest part structure for a given product. It shows the latest version of the top-level part, also known as the primary end item in the product, and its child parts in a recursive manner. Users can expand a part version and view the complete part structure – all part occurrences in that part version. Each part occurrence is shown in the refdes: Part Version format, where refdes is the reference designator for that occurrence and Part Version is the occurrence type.
For example, the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle part version B.4 includes several part occurrences, such as the aircraft (refdes) which is the occurrence of Aircraft Platform part version A.12 in the context of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle part version B.4. Expanding a part occurrence shows the structure of its occurrence type. For example, expanding the aircraft node shows the structure of Aircraft Platform part version A.12. In this manner, users can expand to any number of levels in the part structure. In addition to child parts, the part structure view also shows documents and EPM documents (such as CAD models) associated with a part version.
The Folder view shows the folders in a given product where the individual parts and documents are managed. Parts and documents in a folder are shown by part masters and document masters. A part / document master is a collection of all versions of a given part / document. Users can expand a part master to view all part versions for that part, as shown for the Aircraft Platform part. Expanding a specific part version will show the part structure for that version.
The Baseline view shows the baseline releases for a given product. Expanding the baseline node shows all part versions and document versions (including EPM document versions) that were included in that baseline.
Viewing Creo models in Windchill
Syndeia users can also view/access Creo models for EPM documents managed in Windchill. For a given EPM document master, user can see all the EPM document versions. On expanding the EPM document version, the Creo model in that document can be loaded and its assembly structure can be accessed, as shown in figure below.
