Windchill Repositories

In this section, the Syndeia Web Dashboard capabilities for Windchill repositories are presented.

Add a Windchill Repository

(1) Click the Repositories icon in the LHS menu pane.

(2) Select Windchill in the list of Repository types on the LHS and click on the + icon to add a new Windchill repository, as shown below.

 

(3) Fill out the details for your Windchill server (repository), as shown below, and click the Create button.

  • URL - Base URL of your Windchill repository

  • Name - Name of the Windchill repository. Provide a unique name to distinguish this Windchill repository from others you may add.

  • Description - Description of the Windchill repository

  • Authentication type - Basic or Oauth

    • the type depends on how the PTC Windchill Repository has been configured for PTC Windchill Authentication

  • Username - Username to sign in to your Windchill repository. Enter the same username that you use on the Windchill web client.

  • Password - Password to sign in to your Windchill repository. Enter the same username that you use on the Windchill web client.

Browse a Windchill Repository

(1) Expand the Windchill repository after it has been added.

(2) If your repository details are correct, Syndeia Cloud will try to sign in to the Windchill repository and display three categories of containers - Libraries, Products, and Projects, as shown below.

When the Authentication Protocol is OAuth, you will perform an OAuth2 Device Code Grant multi-factor access check. See below for details.

(3) Expand any of the three container categories to view Libraries, Products, and Projects accessible to you.

(4) Expand any container - Library, Product, or Project - to view its contents, as shown above.

  • Expand a container to view Folders and Parts at the root level in the expanded container

  • Expand a Folder to view Sub-Folders and Parts in the expanded Folder

  • Expand a Part to view the Part BOM Structure - other Parts used in the context of the expanded Part.


Search a Windchill Repository

Users can search for Containers and Parts in a Windchill repository. Click on the Search icon on the RHS to see the Search tab.

(1) Container search

Search for Libraries, Products, or Projects using the Container search.

  • Select the Container option.

  • Specify any text string contained in the name of the containers you are searching for, as shown below.

  • Click the Search button. Results are shown on the RHS.

(2) Part search

Search for Parts using part numbers.

  • Select the Part option.

  • Specify the part number of the Part you are searching for, as shown below.

  • Click the Search button. Results are shown on the RHS.


Digital Thread Explorer

The Digital Thread Explorer for Windchill will show both intra-model relationships, e.g. usage links between Windchill Parts, and inter-model relationships created using Syndeia, e.g. relationships between Windchill Parts and requirements (Jama Connect, DOORS NG), SysML models (Teamwork Cloud), test cases (TestRail), software modules (GitHub), or other artifacts in your digital thread.
